Introduction

I’ve been following the development of “Out of Action” on YouTube for quite some time, and now that the demo is out, everyone can see for themselves. This game is always in action with its fluid movements, dynamic combat maneuvers, and my favorite, multiplayer bullet time. The graphics, featuring a ’90s anime aesthetic, are trendy and unique.

Developed by a solo developer, Doku, “Out of Action” is an indie first-person shooter set in a brutal cyberpunk universe, offering multiplayer for up to 10 players and single-player modes. Get the Demo! Full Release expected in Q4 2024

Gameplay Overview

Having finally tested the game, albeit only the demo, it still showcases the core elements perfectly. There’s one map and one weapon from each category, along with throwable items like mines, C4, etc. The 24 perks add a dimension of build possibilities. Secondary and primary weapons come with optic, ammo, and one mod slot. My favorite perk, AKIMBO, makes darting around corners with Sawn Off Akimbos a blast. The gameplay is fast and full of movement, especially with sliding, diving, and jumping. The bullet time adds variety by balancing the movement. The map is clean and atmospheric, without clutter or unnecessary objects. In a nutshell, it’s about action-packed, creative shooting in a John Wick style, but with an anime twist.

Graphics

The graphics, while anime-inspired, strike a visually appealing balance, enhancing the map’s atmosphere.

User Experience

Discussing the user experience based solely on the demo isn’t fair, so I’ll keep it general. The controls are intuitive and customizable, and the UI is typical for FPS games.

Personal Experience and Opinion

In my opinion, “Out of Action” has the potential to make a name for itself in the AAA scene. I’m looking forward to its further development and remain impressed by Doku’s multifaceted talent. Try it andput it on your wishlist. OUT OF ACTION!
